Polymorphic and eurytopic (Ref. 1784) being coastal to abyssal (Ref. 19); occurs from the intertidal zone of the neritic province to the oceanic province on a benthic endofauna substrate (Ref. 2026). Lives in solitary bases of colitary corals that have overgrown small gastropods; forming a commensal relationship (Ref. 776 and 1842, page 220). Found in discarded gastropod or scaphopod shells; from shallow, warm water live (Ref. 1840) or in crevices (Ref. 2026). Usually preyed upon by Mullus barbatus (Ref. 41995). Coastal to abyssal (Ref. 19); live in solitary bases of solitary corals that have overgrown small gastropods; forming a commensal relationship (Ref. 776 and 1842, page 220). Found in discarded gastropod or scaphopod shells; from shallow, warm water live (Ref. 1840, page 220). A surface deposit-feeder (Ref. 96376).
