Short description Morfologi

Colonies may form stands several meters across. They are arborescent, composed of cylindrical branches which subdivide infrequently. Corallites are tabular; axial corallites are distinctive. Color can either be pale brown or tan with white axial corallites.

Biologi     Ordlista (t.ex. epibenthic)

Zooxanthellate (Ref. 116012). Upper to mid reef slopes, lagoons with clear water (Ref. 846), subtidal reef tops and reef edges (Ref. 86439). In Belize, it was also found in a submarine cave at a depth of 10 m (Ref. 87209).

Hermaphroditic (Ref. 113712). Mature gametes are shed into the coelenteron and spawned through the mouth. Life cycle: The zygote develops into a planktonic planula larva. Metamorphosis begins with early morphogenesis of tentacles, septa and pharynx before larval settlement on the aboral end (Ref. 833).
