30 cm wide, disk-shaped; stomach small; a simple a nd forked canal arise in each of the eight radii of the velar lappets; these radial canals anastomose to some extent; the eight adradial rows of tentacles are somewhat shorter than the intervals between them.

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
