It is found on rocky bottoms and brown algae (Ref. 87801), and in forests of Macrocystis pyrifera (Ref. 92889), from the lower intertidal to a depth of 160 meters (Ref. 87801).

Its egg masses composed of up to 1,600 spirally arranged capsules attached to fronds of brown algae, and each capsule contains 1 embryo each which develops within and emerges as a crawling juvenile.
