Intertidal (Ref. 106029) to shallow rocky subtidal zone. Feeds on algae and epiphytes (Ref. 106027). Closely associated with the subtidal brown kelp Lessonia trabeculata. Juveniles are found almost exclusively on Glossophora kunthii (Ref. 106974).

Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer.
