Western Atlantic: Southwest of Marthas Vineyard and Nantucket, Massachusetts, to near Cozumel Island, Mexico, to Uruguay.

Deep sea, slope (Ref. 97531). Found on the continental slope. Buries itself (Ref. 106859). Host to barnacles, isopods and worms (Ref. 104958). In general, galatheid crabs show a wide spectrum of feeding habits, from being detritivorous, vegetarian, omnivorous, to cannibalistic (Ref. 90632).
