Northwest Pacific, Northern Atlantic and the Arctic. Mostly polar, but also in subtropical and boreal.

Found mostly below 300 m (Ref. 116516). It is mainly found in depths less than 100 meters and polyp of the species is found in silty sand, clean sand and clean shell gravel rooted in the bottom (Ref. 64386).
