Calyx funnel-shaped, up to 6 cm wide and about half as high; peduncle somewhat longer than height of calyx; perradial notches between arms twice as wide and deep as the interradial; 100 to 140 tentacles on each arms; gonads extending almost to ends of arms.

Members of the class Scyphozoa are gonochoric. Life cycle: Egg is laid by the adult medusa which later develops into a free-living planula, then to a scyphistoma to a strobila, and lastly to a free-living young medusa.
