Comments: Known from new established sites in Castle Rock and San Miguel Island (Ref. 1522); also in southern California (Ref. 8623, 8670). In 1996, a northern fur seal gave birth in the Farallon Islands, the first such event since the extirpation of the breeding population in the early 1800's (Ref. 1522).
