Distribution:  Pacific, Atlantic and the Mediterranean: Liberia, USA and Canada.
Diagnosis:  Up to 3.5 cm wide (2.5 m at coronal groove); umbrella with dome-shaped apex; rhopalar pedalia slightly narrower than the tentacular; marginal lappets evenly rounded; eight adrarial gonads W-shaped; ring muscle continuous; no ocelli with lens; brownish-red coloration over whole medusa.
Biology:  In deep water (Ref. 19).
