Family:  Palaemonidae (palaemonid shrimps)
Max. size:  7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthic; freshwater; brackish; marine; depth range 0 - 17 m, catadromous
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Introduced in Baltic and Black Sea.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Common in European estuaries. Mostly inhabits freshwater throughout the year but migrates to estuarine brackish waters to reproduce (Ref. 82147).
