Distribution:  Eastern Pacific and Western Central Atlantic.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  This species is found in intertidal and subtidal areas at depths of 0 to 100 m (Ref. 83942). It is known to break off its arms when threatened and as a means of asexual reproduction (Ref. 865).
