Distribution:  Indo-Pacific. Tropical and subtropical.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Cryptic, rare on reef flat, lagoon and seaward reef (Ref. 102252). Also on a reef slope (Ref. 97449). Ophidiasterids are typical substrate film-feeders as well as on rock-encrusting organisms (Ref. 108108). Associated with coral communities. Dwells in hard rocky substrates (Ref. 129602).
