Description of life cycle and mating behavior Members of the order Decapoda are mostly gonochoric. Mating behavior: Precopulatory courtship ritual is common (through olfactory and tactile cues); usually indirect sperm transfer (Ref. 833). Mating and egg-laying occurs from May to July after the moult of the female; hatching between July and December of even later (Ref. 4).
