Distribution:  Northeast Atlantic and the Mediterranean: Europe. Introduced in Australia (Ref. 74657).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in sandbanks, in substrates with rich organic sediments (Ref. 96352) and muddy detritic areas (Ref. 2780). It is an active suspension feeder (Refs. 96214, 96376, 96501, 96498), i.e., surface deposit-feeder (Ref. 96292). Feeds on organic detritus (Ref. 96352). A free-living species (Ref. 3123)
