Distribution:  Atlantic Ocean, Arctic and the Mediterranean. Temperate to Subarctic.

Biology:  Found in deep waters, mostly seaward of the continental slope. Feeds on squid, fish, sea cucumbers, starfish, and prawns on or near the bottom (Ref. 1394).
