Max. size:  15 cm H (male/unsexed)
Environment:  sessile; brackish; marine; depth range 0 - 27 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic.
Diagnosis:  Clusters or single vase-like tubes: 5 - 15 cm high. Bright red to orange externally, and internally. Very spiky surface. Compressible but resilient to the touch (Ref. 415).
Biology:  In Bocas Del Torro, on deeper edges of reefs: 14 to 18 m deep covered by mud. Elsewhere found on reefs under 10 m deep (Ref. 415). Also in mangrove ponds (Ref. 86789).
